Kaitlan Stephens, M.A., LPCC

Therapist

Offers Services in Person in Fort Collins + Telehealth

Kaitlan Stephens is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC) who specializes in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related conditions. She works with adolescents and adults and has a particular interest in helping clients navigate OCD, anxiety, uncertainty, perfectionism, and major life transitions.

Kaitlan is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD, and is passionate about helping clients understand the patterns that keep OCD and anxiety going while building the skills and confidence to respond differently. She also incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), solution-focused, mindfulness-based, and narrative approaches when appropriate. Her work is structured, collaborative, and individualized, with an emphasis on helping clients move toward what matters to them rather than allowing anxiety or OCD to dictate their choices.

Before becoming a therapist, Kaitlan worked in education, teaching high school students both in the United States and abroad. Her experiences working with adolescents, along with navigating significant personal and career transitions of her own, shaped her path toward helping others navigate change, uncertainty, and challenging life experiences. She particularly enjoys working with adolescents and young adults who may be struggling with anxiety, OCD, identity, perfectionism, or the many transitions that come with this stage of life.

Kaitlan brings a curious, encouraging, and attentive presence to the therapy room. She believes that anxiety and OCD can make it difficult to access strengths that are already present, and that therapy can provide a supportive space to better understand these patterns while developing the capacity to respond to them differently. Through evidence-based treatment and a collaborative therapeutic relationship, Kaitlan helps clients practice tolerating uncertainty, facing fears, reducing avoidance and compulsive behaviors, and taking meaningful steps toward the life they want to live.

Kaitlan also holds a certificate in Equine Interactions in Mental Health from the University of Denver and incorporates equine interactions into her clinical work when appropriate, providing an experiential element to the therapeutic process.

Outside of the therapy space, Kaitlan enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, exploring the Poudre Canyon, spending time around horses, reading, gardening, trying new recipes, and doing anything crafty.
